House of Anubis is a piece of media that is so iconic - yet simultaneously so culturally insignificant - that it prevails in my book as an unfailing delight. The videography has aged so poorly that it has surpassed annoyance and reached the realm of charm. The writing and acting are as bad as each other and yet this show still remains one of my absolute favourites. If I were to describe this soap opera extravaganza in one word, I'd have to say "unpretentious". I attribute this to the notion that although the writing, acting and production of House of Anubis are extremely questionable and, at times, tacky, it feels as if the show is aware of its own flaws and simply chooses to embrace them. Despite its blemishes, House of Anubis prevails as a compelling story that I could never forget.
